Dear Parents /Guardians
The examination for Grade 4 to 7 will start this Thursday 02 June. The school will be dismissing at 13h00 Mon to Thurs and 12h30 on Fri during the Examination. Grade R to 3 will dismiss at 12h50 to prevent the little ones from getting injured when the bigger learners come out. Please make the necessary pick-up arrangements. Also, ensure that your child has a study schedule that he/she sticks to during the examination.
With the recent reports of a possible child-abduction attempt, it is important that we tighten up our security.
1) Please ensure that as far as possible that especially younger learners are accompanied to the school gate and picked up by the school gate.
2) If for any reason you cannot fetch your child and send someone else to pick up your child please ensure that you and your child have a “Safe Word” which can be used as proof by the person you sent that they have permission to do so.
3) Please instruct your child to remain inside the school fence and close to the security guards while waiting for their transport.
4) Please instruct your child not to talk and/or accept any gifts from any strangers or to go close to a vehicle if they are called by the persons inside it.
5) If your children must walk home on their own then please encourage them to walk in a group.
6) Instruct your child to only get into a vehicle where the driver is the one approved by you. Also, ensure that such driver is of sober habits and that they drop your child safely and not encourage your child to run across the road and not use the Scholar Patrol Crossing.
7) Please ensure that the school has your most updated cell number and that this phone is on at all times so that should the transport not arrive we can contact you.
8) Please encourage your child regularly to adhere to the Instructions of the Security Guards and Walking Bus Ladies.
9) Parents living around the school must please keep a lookout for any suspicious characters and inform the office immediately of such persons.
10) Please note that any persons found on the school premises without permission will be treated with extreme prejudice.
We will also be upgrading our security surveillance so that we can more effectively monitor our entry points and the behavior of transport vehicles.
The above measures will be costly and we, therefore, appeal to all parents to support our raffle fundraiser so that we can make the much-needed security upgrades.
Sincerely
M D Blaauw
Principal of Hazeldene Primary
